Blinded By The Light Official Movie Trailer

A British-Pakistani teen finds comfort and inspiration in the music of Bruce Springsteen in the new trailer for Blinded by the Light, released Thursday (May 2).

Set in Luton in 1987, the Warner Bros. film stars Viveik Kalra as Javed, a teenager with dreams of becoming a writer despite his strict, traditional parents' disapproval. After a classmate gives him a Bruce Springsteen cassette tape, Javed's world is changed forever as he instantly connects to the music.

"It’s like Bruce knows everything I’ve ever felt, everything I’ve ever wanted," Javed says in the trailer.

"Dancing in the Dark," "The Promised Land," and "Born to Run" are just a few of Springsteen's hits that are featured in the two-minute preview.

Directed by Gurinder Chadha, the movie is based on the memoir Greetings from Bury Park by journalist Sarfraz Manzoor, who also co-wrote the script. Blinded by the Light premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and is slated to hit U.S. theaters Aug. 14.
