Soulja Boy, Flo Rida Flop On Billboard Album Chart

Soulja Boy

A couple of notable hip-hop and R&B artists dropped albums this week, but according to Billboard's latest 200 chart, it appears no one went out to buy them. *tear*

Susan Boyle Likely to Top Billboard 200 Next Week

Jazmine Sullivan dropped her sophomore album "Love Me Back," which entered at No. 17 with 57,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Chrisette Michele's third effort, "Let Freedom Reign," launched at No. 25 with 42,000. Then there's Eric Benet's "Lost In Time," which begins at No. 33, selling 32,000; Ron Isley's "Mr. I," at No. 50 with 22,000; and El DeBarge's "Second Chance," which entered at no. 57, moving 21,000.

Things are looking even more sad over on the hip-hop end of things. If Soulja Boy and Flo Rida fans were wondering why neither of these chart-toppers were included in Billboard's weekly 200 story being that they both released albums last week, it's because these fine gentlemen entered the chart this week at Nos. 90 and 107, respectively (and we don't write about entries that high up on the charts). Soulja Boy's "The DeAndre Way" sold 14,000 and Flo's "Only One Flo" moved 11,000. SMDH.

Oh, and there's more. Rounding out those numbers are Slim Thug, which launched at No. 89 with "Tha Thug Show" (14,000) and newcomer Miguel with his debut "All I Want Is You," which sold 11,000, entering at No. 109

Wait. That's not all. Those that made a big splash on the charts last week, like Nicki and Kanye, are also seeing declining numbers this week. Nicki Minaj's "Pink Friday" falls six slots to No. 8 with 103,000 (down 73%) in its second week, while last week's No. 1, Kanye West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy," descends to No. 7 with 108,000 (down 78%). Rihanna's "Loud," moved 6-10 with 77,000 (down 45%).

*Scratching head* What do you guys attest this to? I'm personally disappointed in labels more than I am in artists. Like, Miguel, for example. He had that big hit and instead of the label capitalizing on that, they waited for the fourth quarter rush to do a silen release. And Chrisette Michele? She's a great vocalist. Where was the label to push this project?
