Throwback: Remember When Drake Co-Signed The Weeknd 5 Years Ago?

Drake and The Weeknd perform at 2013 OVO Fest at Molson Amphitheatre on August 5, 2013 in Toronto, Canada.

It's been close to five years since Drake introduced The Weeknd -- who currently holds the No. 1 song in the country and is slated to headline Billboard's Hot 100 Music Festival -- to his massive fanbase through a simple post on his blog, October's Very Own.

On December 12, 2010, at 3:46 a.m. (during peak Drake hours: midnight-4 a.m. ET) Oliver El-Khatib, Drake's manager and OVO founder, posted two songs from The Weeknd on Drake's blogspot site.

Still, many didn't catch on to Drake liking The Weeknd (who would soon thereafter collaborate on numerous songs off Take Care) until he tweeted lyrics from The Weeknd's song "Wicked Game” and directed fans to October’s Very Own, where he had posted the song.

All eyes were on the elusive singer-songwriter from Toronto soon after.

While rumors later surfaced of there being tension between the two, Drake and the Weeknd seem to be doing just fine five years later, attending each other's sets at Coachella and teaming up at Apple's Beats 1 unveiling in June.

The Weeknd is headed to Jones Beach on Aug. 22 to headline Billboard's inaugural Hot 100 Music Festival. Check out details here and get tickets here
