Timbaland Promises New Music From Aaliyah

Timbaland often gets asked if he still has any unreleased material from late R&B singer Aaliyah.

"Well the answer is YES!!!!!!!!" the famed producer and rapper confirmed on Instagram Saturday, Aug. 8. He added that a "sneak peak" of new music is on the way. His post included a photo of Aaliyah's face surrounded by clouds.


Aaliyah was the subject of a controversial biopic on Lifetime in 2014, and her vocals have been incorporated into songs by Drake ("Enough Said") and Chris Brown("Don't Think They Know") in recent years.

Tink & Timbaland Cover Aaliyah's 'One in a Million'

Earlier this year Timbaland's new R&B sensation, Tink, left her mark on "One in a Million," one of the his breakthrough tracks from his late '90s partnership with Aaliyah. The original, released in 1996, led the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart for eight weeks in 1996-1997, Aaliyah's longest stretch at the top.

Aaliyah died in a plane crash on Aug. 25, 2001, at 22. She debuted in 1994 with the album, Age Ain't Nothing But a Number.
