Nicki Minaj is the latest artist to use a dating app as a promotional tool.
The rapper zeroed in on her gay fan base using Grindr to remind users that The Pinkprint Tour begins Friday in Dallas. Just days after her Pinkprint Tour wraps, Minaj will play Billboard's inaugural Hot 100 Fest -- tickets are now available here.
Dating apps have become a popular outlet for artist promotion -- Mariah Carey created a Match.com profile to premiere the music video for her single “Infinity,” and Zedd and Jason Derulo utilized Tinder’s swipe right function to promote an album and a video, respectively.
Like Minaj, Madonna used Grindr in advance of her album Rebel Heart’s release with a contest to win a chat with Madonna herself in February.
The North American Pinkprint Tour runs from July 17 to Aug. 19, hitting 19 cities and featuring Meek Mill, Tinashe, Rae Sremmurd, and DeJ Loaf as supporting acts.
