"Yams was like a mystery," Rocky said of Yams' mythic stature in the Harlem hip-hop community. "He was like the Great Gatsby."
He also spoke on Yams' drug use, a subject Rocky had previously told Billboard was not connected to his passing. "He always had a struggle with drugs," Rocky said. "That was his thing."

In the interview, Rocky vividly describes the night that Yams died. Rocky was hanging out with A$AP Lou at the Williamsburg apartment Lou shared with Yams.
Around 3am, Lou told Rocky something was wrong. They found vomit on Yams' bed, and were unable to wake him up. "I just look at his face. I look at [A$AP] Lou. You could just tell. We knew," Rocky said. "I was scared. I was wilding on everybody, like, 'Who let him do drugs?,' even though you can't blame nobody."
