Azealia Banks Isn't in Whiteface, She's an Ice Princess

Azealia Banks stirred controversy Monday when she posted a photo of herself to Instagram with white makeup on her face, writing "#whiteface" as the caption. 

When her followers responded with outrage, she laughed back on Twitter explaining she's becoming an "ice princess" for a music video.

In the process, she proceeded to call those who took issue "crackers" and asking why her putting on whiteface would be any different or worse than when Snoop Dogg did it last summer. The reason? "Misogynoir," she concluded, "at it's finest."

Banks posted a Wikipedia link of the term for those who aren't familiar, explaining Misogynoir is a term coined by queer black feminist scholar Moya Bailey that refers to anti-Black misogyny.
