No Charges in Eric Garner's Chokehold Death: Hip-Hop Community Reacts

Garner, a 43-year-old husband and father of six children, was killed on July 17 in Staten Island after NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo put him in a chokehold. Throughout the confrontation, which was videotaped and posted online, Garner told the police officers 11 times, "I can't breathe."

The song title comes from other final words of Garner's, when he's speaking of police harassment.

"This Ends Today" opens with audio of Garner shouting, "I can't breathe." His voice gets fainter as the song progresses into the chorus: "Who is the man with the strength to choose?/ When the rest refuse/ And I say, 'This ends today.'"

Flagg and Erica Garner follow the chorus, rapping about their paralyzing pain. The song is available for free download here.

A Staten Island grand jury chose not to bring charges in Garner's death on Dec. 3. The jury failed to indict Pantaleo over a week after officer Ferguson grand jury chose to not indict officer Darren Wilson, who killed unarmed teen, Michael Brown.

Garner's death sparked nationwide anger and rallies for justice.
