Exclusive: Nick Hakim Announces Vinyl Release & Premieres Two Songs

William Hacker
Nick Hakim

After touring the U.K., Nick Hakim is prepping the release of Where Will We Go Pt.1 & 2, a vinyl compilation of his two previous EPs. Hakim will release Where Will We Go Pt. 1 & 2 on Nov. 18 through his own imprint, Earseed Records.

In honor of the new 12", Billboard is premiering two acoustic performances from the singer-songwriter, recorded at Billboard's New York City office.

Hakim sung "Cold," which was originally featured on Where Will We Go Pt.1, and a new, unreleased song titled, "The Want." Check out Nick Hakim perform "Cold," below:

"The Want," below, features Hakim accompanied by only a keyboard and the slightest of programmed beats. "I want you, I want you to want me," sings Hakim in a piercing falsetto, bringing to mind the hook from Marvin Gaye's 1976 hit "I Want You."
Hakim has opened for music heavyweights like Maxwell. Over the next week, Hakim is performing a series of shows in the U.K. with another R&B experimentalist, How to Dress Well. He returns to NYC for four shows in four weeks at the Mercury Lounge.
