Is Timbaland Producing a Michael Jackson Project?

Timbaland is working on a new project that features the vocals of Michael Jackson. Or is he?

A vague, heavily-edited teaser suggests as much, and has become a talking point since it appeared on YouTube over the weekend. In the video, the beats-maestro tells of how L.A. Reid had approached him to work on a project he describes “would be like two kings working together.” The word “big” is also associated with it.

The first single would be called “Chicago,” and Timbaland was keen to “set it up right.”

However, the name Michael Jackson is not dropped once. The late King of Pop’s image is spliced throughout the 39-second teaser, cleverly connecting all the dots.

The video appeared first on Revolt TV’s YouTube channel over the weekend, but disappeared before returning as third-party posts. Watch it below

Timbaland has a reputation as a master producer, a studio-hog at the top of his game who regularly collaborates with the likes of Jay Z and Justin Timberlake. The question of whether Timbaland would want to add Jackson to this elite company is a compelling one.

Just last year, Timbaland slammed artists for resurrecting Aaliyah’s vocals. “People always say, ‘I’m going to do a song with Aaliyah.' It will never work,” he said. “Chris Brown got a record, it won’t work. Drake can go do a record with Aaliyah, it ain’t gonna work. ’Cause Aaliyah music only work with its soulmate, which is me,” he was quoted as saying.
