Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office

DMX was arrested and placed behind bars in Spartanburg County, South Carolina overnight for driving without a license.

The 42-year-old rapper was pulled over shortly after being spotted at a Li'l Cricket convenience story. He was arrested around 2 a.m. and taken from the comfort of the 1978 Buick he had been driving.

An unnamed passenger and DMX's five-month-old baby daughter were also riding in the car at the time of the arrest.

"They watched me at the gas station and get in the car," he told FOX Carolina after his release from the Spartanburg County jail at 6 a.m. "They followed me around the corner, pulled me over, put the cuffs on me and brought me here. I paid the money, when I could have just paid the money right there on the spot. Basically it was just five hours wasted for nothing."

According to a police report, DMX also had outstanding tickets in the area, where he has reportedly relocated.

DMX has stated that he does not have a court date.
