Show: Rodarte
Song: J Dilla Aka Jay Dee, “Waves”

Rodarte fans will be wearing grungy ‘80s-themed fashions next summer. Less romantic than past collections, designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy stitched together a spring line of leather fringe vests, studded suspenders and bra tops choreographed to J Dilla’s fierce sound.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2014 Runway Jams: Day 5

Show: Jenny Packham
Amir Baghiri, “Pillow Talk”

Amir Baghiri’s “Pillow Talk” strained out of the speakers in the tents at Lincoln Center as Jenny Packham revealed '70s style satin dresses, embellished miniskirts and lush billowing gowns for her spring lineup.

Show: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Song: Jeffrey Lewis And The Rain, “Wwprd”

Marc Jacobs gave us sexy and '90s-tinged threads with both men and women modeled wearing guitar pick necklaces, boudoir-themed shiny satin and pastel hues. Jeffrey Lewis and The Rain, “Wwprd” (What Would Pussy Riot Do?) echoed in the studio perfectly accentuating the rocker attitude of Marc’s spring line.

Show: Oscar de la Renta
The Beatles, “Here Comes The Sun/ The Inner Light” (Love Version)

“Elizabethan drama” is what Oscar de la Renta had in mind for his spring 2014 show. Embroidered dresses, a black-and-white dotted jacket, a pistachio-colored taffeta gown and petite gloves hit the runway as sweetly textured notes from The Beatles played.

Show: Catherine Malandrino
Song: JJ, “Ecstasy”

Nylon windbreakers, leather skirts and harem-style jumpsuits were on full display at Catherine Malandrino’s presentation. JJ’s cheery beats evoked the designer’s inspiration, sailing on the Mediterranean, with its swooshy eloquence.

Show: Yigal Azrouel
Girls In Hawaii, “Not Dead”

With the opening bits of Girls In Hawaii’s “Not Dead” playing, minimal frocks of oversized sleeveless blazers, knit cocktail dresses and sheer lace paneled gowns took to the catwalk.

Show: Diesel Black Gold
Song: Gesaffelstein, “Viol”

Rough beats blared from the speakers at Diesel’s Black Gold spring show as motorcycle jackets, white dresses embellished with shimmering mirrored circles and baggy stone-washed jeans strolled down the runway.
