New York Fashion Week Runway Jams: Day 3
The Hook columnist Gregory DelliCarpini Jr. is exploring the beats of the season and compiling a list of songs heard on Spring NYFW runways. Check back in daily as he updates with the hottest cuts.
DAY 3: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7
Songs: Pharoahe Monch, "Simon Says," Ebony Bones, "I See I Say," Dillon Francis, "Masta Blasta"
Kanye West and Solange Knowles looked on as Wang delivered fierce beauty in the form of laser-cut pink gloves, boxer shorts and wide pleated skirts. ‘Wang should make a mixtape,' several people tweeted during the show, as dance-inducing beats played. In fact, we spotted both West and Solange breaking into a subtle-seated dance during the show.
Song: Sarah Elizabeth Lacy, "I Am Mine"
Sarah Elizabeth Lacy's fine-tuned and erotically sweet track accented Ruffian's spring line of biker jackets, bold floral blouses and polka-dotted flats inspired by Françoise Sagan’s twisted novel "Bonjour Tristesse,” direct translation, Hello Sadness.
Show: Prabal Gurung
Song: Prozack, "Mountains, Trees"
Mixed prints, ultra feminine silhouettes with a 1950s ambition and pale blue blouses were choreographed to Prozack’s dusky and reflective melody.
Show: Mara Hoffman
Song: The Dixie Cups, "Iko Iko"
The Dixie Cups’ poppy tune "Iko Iko" added edge to Mara Hoffman’s vibrant and frisky spring line of multi-colored geometric print dresses, floral tops and tie-dyed jumpsuits.
Songs: FKA Twigs, "Water Me," Mount Kimbie, "Carbonated," Kelpe, "Beaks Of Eagles" Fulgeance Remix, The Weeknd Feat. Kavinsky, "Odd Look"
LACOSTE’s spring 2014 runway show left us thinking crisp, cool and wistful, and we’re not just describing the collection. LACOSTE’s playlist included gentle and joyous beats by FKA Twigs, Mount Kimbie and The Weeknd.
Show: Carmen Marc
Song: Lunice, "Hitmane’s Anthem"
Athletic and sexy dresses complete with graphic tribal patterns took to the catwalk at Carmen Marc's spring 2014 show as Lunice’s breezy track echoed.
Show: Costello Tagliapietra
Song: Major Lazer Feat. Amber Coffman, "Get Free"
As Major Lazer’s upbeat soundscapes played, slouchy cardigans, confident plaids and casual cotton dresses took to Costello Tagliapietra's runway.
