The elite couture man uses Rihanna as the template for some of the pieces he crafts for lines.

Tom Ford, the designer responsible for Justin Timberlake's new dapper makeover has his eye on another musician’s style. In a new interview with WWD, the designer opened up to editor Bridget Foley about his re-emergence into the catwalk scene, his love for shocking audiences and our favorite part, Rihanna.

“If you’re Rihanna, if you’re that kind of person who can pull off matching hot-pink boots, skirt and jacket, and patchwork multi-materials, I think it's great," Ford says referring to Rih’ sporting a quirky cherry-colored patchwork creation from his Fall 2013 collection.

Ford’s love for Rihanna goes much deeper then just loving her swagger. The designer keeps the “Stay” singer in mind when he’s designing a collection.

“OK, that’s Rihanna, and she’s going to her lawyer’s office in that all-black outfit and she’s hungover and that’s why she’s wearing those glasses. Yet she’s still a rock star,” he mused to WWD. The fall collection was filled with glam and disco pop looks that definitely nod to her hip noir style.

So where did this collection sell extraordinarily well? Russia. Apparently Russians have a thing for Rihanna-tinged fashions as the fall line “sold like crazy” according to Ford.

“There are a lot of 25-year-olds who are married to someone really rich or are the daughters of someone really rich,” Ford said. “They’re our customer, and they’ll look great in [the clothes],” he mused.

We also have a thing for fashion inspired by Rihanna and have included our two favorite looks from the fall line that highlight to the singer’s fierce style in the image above.
