2013 Fall New York Fashion Week: 4 Things We Learned on Day 7
The Hook's editor Gregory DelliCarpini Jr. was out on the town in NYC yesterday (Feb. 13), scoping out the latest NYFW fall runway looks and taking celeb notes along the way.
Willow Smith Goes for Gold At Michael Kors
This is Willow Smith’s first Fashion Week and the young singer is already at her second show. We spotted Smith at the Narciso Rodriguez show yesterday rocking an edgy and cool all black look. Yesterday (Feb. 13) Willow sat front row at Michael Kors in a glittering gold cropped top embellished with spikes from the Michael Kors Resort 2013 collection, a white leather moto jacket with gold studs, leather pants and black and gold studded high tops. Fierce!
Miley Cyrus Hits Fashion Week
Miley Cyrus hit up New York Fashion Week yesterday, attending the Rachel Zoe and Marchesa shows. First up was Rachel Zoe, where the singer stunned in a sultry red jumpsuit by Zoe and black pumps. “. @RachelZoe here I come,” Miley tweeted before the event. As the show began Miley watched as a sexy 1970s-inspired collection marched down the runway with oversized cardigans, canvas trenches and black leather shirts.
Next the singer was off to Marchesa and of course underwent the necessary fashion change, swapping out the red jumpsuit for a textured frilly white dress paired with a black leather motorcycle jacket. Miley watched from the front row as the fashion label revealed their love for decadence and art. The red carpet-ready collection tinged with 17th century European charm consisted of blush and red colored silk dresses with gold embroidery and corseted gowns with billowing tulle. We don’t see Miley rocking these pristine looks, although they will certainly be a hit with Taylor Swift.
A$AP Rocky and Kat Graham Sit Front Row At Jeremy Scott
Jeremy Scott stitched together an animated monster themed collection for fall. As the Beastie Boys' "Girls" played, an array of animal prints, neons, colored furs and mohawk wigs strutted down the catwalk. We loved the colorful patent leathers dresses and the slimy mutated faces on knits.
Looking on as this shocking line took to the runway were artists A$AP Rocky and Kat Graham. “Jeremy show’s are always great because he takes chances,” Kat told Billboard at the show. “I was definitely into the monster cartoon vibe this season. I can definitely see myself wearing some of these pieces. I loved the fake big fur.” Kat looked bright and beautiful sitting next to photographer Terry Richardson in a multi-colored Jeremy dress, gold chocker, and cool round shades. A$AP Rocky sported a similar colorful Jeremy look in a pink, purple and leopard print puffer jacket, a red hoodie and Jeremy Scott for Adidas yellow and black kicks. Under the jacket the rapper rocked a white jersey with black and red stripes.
Eve Sported Pointed Shoulders at Falguni & Shane Peacock
Eve rocked a body-hugging black, red and blue dress with gold accents and exaggerated pointed shoulders at the Falguni & Shane Peacock show. As classical string music blended with a head-bopping dubstep rhythms blared into the tents, an edgy ‘40s-inspired collection took to the catwalk. The dramatic and sexy the collection featured silver metallic bodices, leather gloves, armor-like pointed shoulders, and feathered accents. We could definitely see Eve rocking styles from this collection, particularly a black embellished gown with sheer cutouts and a feathered trim.
