Alexander Wang, A$AP Rocky

The Hook's editor Gregory DelliCarpini Jr. was out on the town in NYC yesterday (Feb. 9), scoping out the latest NYFW fall runway looks and taking celeb notes along the way.

Alexander Wang Loves Fur, Leather, and A$AP Rocky

Wang had quite the cool front row with rapper A$AP Rocky, actress Zoe Kravitz, Alison Mosshart and photographer Terry Richardson looking on as he revealed his vision for Fall 2013.  Rocky rocked an urban original Wang ensemble consisting of a navy and crimson plaid shirt and black varsity jacket. Mosshart opted for an edgier look, sporting a black biker leather jacket paired over a electric green striped shirt.

Wang has a natural gift for stitching together a collection that is both generation-minded and a sure fire hit with the hip-hop scene. For fall 2013 he blended sharp architectural collars with fur hoof-like opera gloves. His standard urban attitude got a crisp couture makeover with bold unexpected textures like silks, plush velvets, and silver furs as he blended the ‘30, ‘40s and ‘50s together into a fur and leather drenched fall line. Rihanna and Azealia Banks will certainly be dipping into this collection.

Ashlee Simpson Wore a Mint Leather Dress to Christian Siriano’s Show

Quickly becoming Fashion Week’s darling, Ashlee Simpson attended Christian Siriano’s fall Russian opera-tinged show in an ice blue mint leather dress and matching heels. The singer looked on as opulent fashions à la the Russian opera scene – gold gowns, lush silks and velvets and brocade embellishments – strutted down the catwalk.

The music reflected this decadent collection. "I collaborated on the music with my boyfriend Brad Walsh, who is a really talented music producer” Siriano told Billboard.  “He did an amazing job creating a great Russian orchestra [feel]."

Cat Power Really Digs Cats

Chan Marshall, who performs as Cat Power, already knows it’s all about the cat. So naturally when a feline-themed pop-up shop arrived on the scene, she was first in mind to perform. The American singer-songwriter performed at the Glamour Cat Fashion Concept Store, a store downtown dedicated to "the cat trend." The shop features kitten-themed items like images of Karl Lagerfeld’s cat Choupette, cat eye makeup, cat rings and Glamour's Opening Ceremony cat sweater collaboration. The GlamourCat Fashion Concept Store is located at 74 Gansevoort Street in New York's Meatpacking District.

Chloë Sevigny Loves Music

Actress Chloë Sevigny had five bands play at her Opening Ceremony fall 2013 collection. The eccentric ‘60s- inspired collection had an even more unconventional backbeat as DNA's Ikue Mori shared the stage with all-girl band Bleached, Lizzi Bougatsos' I.U.D., Light Asylum's Shannon Funchess and Lissy Trullie's band, Thinner. The five bands took turns on the stage as models dressed in Chloë’s groovy mod collection gyrated around them as if it was 1969.

Russell Simmons Hit Fashion Week

We spotted the co-founder of the pioneering hip-hop label Def Jam, Russell Simmons, front row at the Hervé Léger by Max Azria fashion show. The music mogul was rocking a casual look consisting of a white tennis sweater over a red and blue plaid shirt. Simmons watched as body-conscious black and smoke-colored dresses embellished with beads and leather marched down the runway.
