Nicki Minaj Has a New Look, <br />But Lost a Hairdresser

Nicki Minaj -- notorious for her flamboyant (see: loud!) and distinctive (see: crazy!) style, featuring wigs that defy color coordination and modern day style notions -- has apparently lost the will to clash and appall.

The Young Money rapper has been going through a fashion evolution recently, opting for simple and refined ensembles. Out with the pink leopard print tights, stuffed animal covered dresses and fembot metal creations, and in with Oscar de la Renta couture and Monique Lhuillier gowns.

The "Pound the Alarm" star also paired her new demure fashion with natural black and blonde free-flowing locks, tossing aside her green leopard print hair pieces. The hair style change might be due to the fact that Minaj's wig master, Terrence Davidson, is no longer working with the pop star due to "creative differences."

"I've decided to step away as hair stylist and wig creator for Nicki Minaj," he said in a statement Thursday (Jan. 10). "It has been an amazing experience offering me a chance to express my creativity and exhibit my love for the art form of wig design."

Davidson, who said he loved working with Nicki because of her "outside the box style" has also worked with artists like Jennifer Hudson and Mary J. Blige. He explained that he is leaving Minaj to further "reenergize" his creativity.

Will this be the end of Minaj's crazy hairstyles or is she simply taking a brief respite while she searches for his replacement?

Minaj most recently flaunted her modest-yet-zany style and toned down hair at the season 12 premiere screening of "American Idol" on Wednesday (Jan. 9) in L.A. Minaj rocked a graphic yellow and red bandage Herve Leger dress, black and white Christian Louboutin heels and a cascading platinum blonde wig. Although she looked like a life size Barbie (which she would likely take as a compliment, considering she calls fans her "Barbs"), we love her new refined style and the splash of natural wackiness that remains.

What do you think of the new, chic Minaj?
