The Eli Young Band have been criss-crossing the United States in support of their new album "10,000 Towns," which debuts at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 this week. One of those stops was in Manhattan, where they took time out of their schedule to perform a couple new tracks for Billboard, including current single, "Dust."
"That was the last song we recorded for the record," the band's Jon Jones told Billboard. "We had a practice space in town to try to figure out what songs we wanted to do for the last session. Justin Niebank came in and said 'Dust - let's just go for it. I think we've got what we need on this record. Let's just unleash it, and let it be a drivin' rockin song.' I think because he gave us that freedom, it came out being very special. We weren't looking for it to become a single. We were looking for a fun song to play live."
The album was paced by the resounding success of the lead single, "Drunk Last Night," which peaked at the top of the Country Airplay chart. It's a song that fans will be hearing a lot of this spring as the band is in the midst of a tour with Darius Rucker and David Nail.
"We've got to know Darius quite a bit over the past few years," Jones said of Rucker. "We started out right as he started to make the transition into being a country artist. He was one of the first people to come up to us unsolicited, and let us know he dug our music and what we're doing. So, it's going to be great to come full circle and go on tour with him. Of course, we were big Hootie & The Blowfish fans growing up. It will be fun being with him knowing that he understands the dynamic of being in a band. I think we will be kindred souls out on the road. He puts on a great show, and his fans are amazing, so it will be fun to share the stage with him, as well as David."
