Weezer Dedicates 'Van Weezer' Album to Eddie Van Halen Following His Death

Following the sad news of Eddie Van Halen's death on Tuesday (Oct. 6), a number of stars flooded social media mourning the loss of a rock legend.

Weezer, whose upcoming album, Van Weezer, is a reference to Van Halen due to a focus on heavy guitars, shared on Twitter that the project will be dedicated to the Guitar God himself.

"We're saddened to hear of Eddie Van Halen's untimely passing today," the band tweeted alongside a photo of a young, long-haired EVH shredding on a guitar. "Given the news today, we want to dedicate our album Van Weezer to Eddie as a thank you for all the incredible music that soundtracked our youth and inspired the record. RIP EVH."

In recent months before his death, Van Halen was reportedly battling throat cancer and flying to Germany for treatments.

His son, Wolfgang, shared the news of his passing on Twitter. "He was the best father I could ever ask for. Every moment I've shared with him on and off stage was a gift," the 29-year-old wrote.
