Weezer Officially Releases Piano Version of 'Hero': Listen

Shawn Murphy

Weezer might've stripped down the alt-rockers' single "Hero" for a piano version they unveiled today (July 30), but no one took their capes off.

"Hitting all the right keys with the piano version of 'Hero,' out everywhere today," the band wrote on Twitter. "More details about Van Weezer and more on the way for you."

The single debuted on May 6 ahead of their delayed upcoming 14th studio album Van Weezer. Weezer dedicated its release day to real-life frontline heroes combatting the coronavirus pandemic by partnering with Postmates to send meals to LA’s Good Samaritan Hospital.

Frontman Rivers Cuomo slowed down the upbeat tune on the piano, while his bandmates saved the day in the TV screen behind him by filming themselves at their respective at-home venues for their Tonight Show performance on June 17.
