00’s rock fans rejoiced upon hearing news that My Chemical Romance will be performing a reunion show, their first gig together since 2012.

The band will take the stage at the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles on Dec. 20.

The news comes six years after frontman Gerard Way announced the band’s end to Twitter. “My Chemical Romance is done. But it can never die. It is alive in me, in the guys, and it is alive inside all of you. I always knew that, and I think you did too. Because it is not a band—it is an idea.”

In celebration of the band being very much still alive, Billboard has compiled a timeline to catch you up on everything the group has been up to since the split.

November 2013 - Frank Iero is featured on Reggae and the Full Effect’s No Country For Old Musicians
The rhythm guitarist appears on the album’s eighth track, “Robo Fonzie Meets Frank”

February 2014 - Mikey Way forms Electric Century

The band, featuring the bassist and Sleep Station’s David Debiak, unveiled their debut single “I Lied” in February 2014, before releasing their album, For the Night to Control, in 2017.

"I was doing a lot of soul-searching at that time. I still had a lot to say, musically," Way told Billboard of forming the group. "I had a lot of riffs and vocal melodies lying around. It was pretty seamless jump. There was no time between."

August 2014 - Iero releases .STOMACHACHES
The album also featured former My Chemical Romance touring drummer Jarrod Alexander.

September 2014 - Gerard Way releases Hesitant Alien
Another member of MCR went on to pursue solo projects following the band’s fallout, including Way’s full album, which featured tunes like “Brother,” and “No Shows.”

July 2016 - Reunion rumors

The band got fans excited by sharing a video of the piano intro from "Welcome to the Black Parade", ending with the date, "9/23/16". Turns out, it was just a reissue of The Black Parade. The Black Parade/Living with Ghosts had 11 demos and live tracks.

October 2016 - Frank Iero cancels tour

Iero was scheduled for  24 U.S. dates planned for between Oct. 28 and Nov. 27, but due to the “severity of injuries sustained” in an auto accident before a gig in Sydney, Australia, he was forced to cancel the remaining dates.

Iero’s party was arriving at the venue when a bus crashed into the back of their vehicle, according to Australia’s 9News.

October 2018 - Gerard's "Baby You're a Haunted House"

Baby You're a Haunted House" is a single "about all our inner ghosts and demons and what it feels like being in love and having to deal with your own internal horror show," Way said of the tune in a statement. "I tried not to really overthink it too much as I really wanted to start getting music out into the world again and sharing my art."

February 2019 - The Umbrella Academy

Gerard Way revived his love for comics by turning his Umbrella Academy series into a Netflix streaming adaptation. Featuring superstars like Mary J. Blige and Ellen Page, The Umbrella Academy follows a group of teens in 1989 with special powers who grow up as a super-human family after they were adopted by the mysterious Sir Reginald Hargreeves.
