Amber Run unveiled the video for their latest single “What Could Be As Lonely As Love” on Thursday (Sept. 19) exclusively with Billboard.

The video kicks off with a man getting thrown out of a nondescript karaoke bar before stumbling into the street in a drunken, self-pitying haze.

“What could be as lonely as love?/ What could ever hurt this much?/ What if you’re the only one?/ What could be as lonely as love?” vocalist Joshua Keogh wails on the song’s forlorn chorus as the man dances and spins with elegant flourish down the road.

“We wanted to create a twisted character with some darkness that you could love and pity,” the British rockers tell Billboard. “That relationship between your best and worst self mashed up into three minutes. Plus, it was pretty great watching people react to a drunk man beautifully dancing down the street.”

The bombastic track serves as the lead single from Amber Run’s forthcoming third studio album, Philophobia, which is set to be released Sept. 27 via Easy Life Records.
