A release announcing the album reveals that Gallagher wrote the songs with producers Greg Kurstin (Adele, Sia) and Andrew Wyatt (Lady Gaga, Lorde) and tracked it in London and Los Angeles. Explaining that he wrote "some songs" on his own for his 2017 solo debut, As You Were -- which also featured production and songwriting by Kurstin and Wyatt - but that this time all the tracks were co-writes because he wanted it to be even better, Gallagher said, "I know my strengths and I know my limitations. I’m an OK songwriter, but I’m a great singer and frontman. I want the second album to be a step-up because the hardest thing to do is to make something the same, only better. So that’s what we’ve done." The album will also feature a tune featuring his 17 year-old son, Gene, which Gallagher revealed in an Instagram post in March.
Gallagher released the apocalyptic video for in-your-face track "Shockwave" on Thursday morning (June 13). In the François Rousselet-directed clip he strolls away from a burning house in his trademark oversized parka, sips some tea and pugnaciously strolls through a 1960s-style street protest featuring marchers hoisting signs with the album title and the song's lyrics.
