Rival Sons Rip 'Late Late Show' With Explosive 'Too Bad': Watch

Rival Sons perform on The Late Late Show with James Corden on May 8, 2019.

No fancy lights or screens, just cranked up greasy guitars, pounding drums and gargled glass vocals like it was a biker bar in the middle of Arkansas in 1976. That's the vibe Rival Sons brought to The Late Late Show on Wednesday night (May 8). The road dog Los Angeles band played it straight with a no-hold-barred rip through their recent single "Too Bad," with singer Jay Buchanan working the stage like he was preaching the rock gospel.

"You tremble when you hear my name/ You miss me so much/ Well, that's too bad," he howled, his long, stringy hair covering his face as he held the mic with all his might and guitarist Scott Holiday filled the pregnant pauses with bluesy solos and fuzzed-out strumming. The song, from the band's aptly titled sixth studio album, Feral Roots, is sure to be a highlight when they set out on a co-headlining fall tour with Stone Temple Pilots in the fall beginning with a Sept. 13 show in Baltimore.
