SoCal Band Pepper Sends an Animated 'Warning' With New Video: Exclusive

Pepper is ready to take you across the globe with its video for new single "Warning," which is premiering exclusively on Billboard today (May 9).

The trio -- comprised of Kaleo Wassman (lead vocals, guitar), Bret Bollinger (bass), and Yesod Williams (drums) -- brings its laid-back reggae-inspired flair to the Stick Figure-produced track that perfectly segues into the pending summer season.

The video itself (created by artist Darieus Legg) is a cheeky reflection of Pepper's 20-year career: the band left Kona, Hawaii to set up shop in Southern California, before traveling around the world with its dubby music. But instead starring in the video, Pepper lets animation tell the story. It follows a woman stuffing forbidden skull coconuts from Hawaii in her luggage, which grows more colorful as it stops in cities like Hollywood and Paris.

"'Warning' is a perfect representation of our sound, instead of being something that was relevant to us a year ago, it’s POTENT!" the band tells Billboard of the track. "It really is resetting the bar for our music, we’ve been a band for over 20 years now and all of a sudden everything seems brand new, that’s a fuckin warning if I’ve ever heard one!”

"Sometimes people come into your life that reignites the original flame to burn bigger than ever before. Sometimes those people come in the form of your friends, in one of your favorite bands Stick Figure, who has reignited that original Kona Town sound stronger than ever before!”
