The Dutch band arrives on the Emerging Artists chart entirely on the strength of the 14-track set, which also launched on Heatseekers Albums and Rock Album Sales. The EP includes live versions of previously-released hits, as well as four new tracks; melodic opener “Masters Of Destiny” is a standout, thanks to lush combo of shimmering keys, frantic guitars and frontwoman Charlotte Wessel's soaring vocals.
Delain would be nothing if not for their fans, as Wessels explains. “It’s a privilege to speak our hearts through our songs, and have people listen and support what we do,” she tells Billboard.
“If I had one wish for our music,” Wessels continues, “it would be for listeners to feel empowered by it, whether that’s by forgetting about their troubles at a live show, screaming along to our outsiders anthem ‘We Are The Others,’ blasting our tracks after a long day, or just by relating to the words.”
The members of Delain hail from various cities and towns around the Netherlands: Martijn Westerholt is from Zwolle, while Charlotte Wessels and Otto Schimmelpenninck van der Oije are from Utrecht, Joey Marin de Boer is from Dordrecht, Timo Somers is from Den Bosch and Merel Bechtold is from Huizen.
They’re known for bringing their energetic live show around the globe, and as work continues on their sixth full studio album (which the band promises will be “bigger, heavier and even more intense than before”), they’ll be touring nonstop over multiple continents.
