Morrissey performs at Tropicalia Fest on Dec. 8, 2018.

The May 2-11 stand at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater will feature a career retrospective.

Morrissey has staked his career on songs filled with dramatic gesutures and over-the-top emotion. So it's fitting that after four decades of serving as the Yul Brenner of mope rock, the 59 year-old singer is finally bringing his show to the Great White Way.

Moz announced his first Broadway residency on Monday morning (March 4), confirming seven nights at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater from May 2-11. The run coincides with the release of his upcoming covers album, California Son (March 24).

The shows were described in a press release as "an intimate yet exciting exploration of Morrissey's expansive career from his early days" to California Son, which features Morrissey's unique take on songs by Joni Mitchell, Dionne Warwick and Bob Dylan, with help form Petra Haden, LP, Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear, Ariel Engle of Broken Social Scene, Sameer Gadhia of Young The Giant and Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day.

Tickets for the run will go on sale on Friday (March 8) at 10:00 a.m. ET here.

Morrissey Broadway residency dates:

May 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10 and 11
