Alex Lahey announced her sophomore album and unveiled the video for her latest single “Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself” on Wednesday (Feb. 20).

The Best Of Luck Club, the follow-up to the Australian rocker’s 2017 debut album I Love You Like a Brother, is set to be released on May 17 on Dead Oceans.

The Best Of Luck Club was written during a 12 month period that saw me experience the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in my life thus far,” Lahey tells Billboard. “For me, The Best Of Luck Club is a home for all these stories, which are things we've all experienced. No matter what kind of day you've had, anyone can come into the Club, take a seat, tell their story and be met with empathy and the response of ‘best of luck.’”

In the new video for “Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself, Lahey rocks out at a mysterious research facility in the woods while being observed by a legion of quirky, masked scientists. The singer-songwriter also performs a vibrant saxophone solo on the song's bridge.

According to Lahey, the lead single expounds on the upcoming album’s central themes of empathy and relatable stories.

“'Don't Be So Hard On Yourself' was a message for someone I love,” she says, “telling them that it doesn't matter how capable or strong or resilient they are, we all have bad days and that's OK.”
