Craig Stickland Debuts Fiery Video For 'Burn it Down': Exclusive

Stickland tells Billboard that “Burn it Down” was the last song written for his upcoming sophomore LP, Starlit Afternoon. “It was inspired by a feeling of rebellion towards the divide and oppression that’s been going on in the world lately,” he says. “It’s written about standing up to the oppressors while coming together with your fellow human-being.”

Stickland traveled across North America in a converted sustainable Sprinter Van for live performances as the guitarist for Alessia Cara while she opened for Coldplay in 2016, and he wrote the song shortly after. “I had just done a Coldplay tour with Alessia, so we wanted to be giant and anthemic on the tune," Stickland says in a release. "‘Burn It Down’ felt like the one to lead with, because it’s meant to fire people up."

Stickland wrote, recorded and self-produced the 12-track record, which is scheduled to drop later this year.
