Can't Swim

New Jersey quartet Can't Swim is readying its second LP in as many years for the punk-focused indie Pure Noise Records. It's called This Too Won't Pass -- a riff on the old adage most of us, by now, have figured out isn't entirely true. But rather than being a total bummer, Can't Swim's new album strives to find momentary bits of clarity in those struggles that often linger in our lives.

Their latest song -- premiering exclusively via Billboard -- focuses on the brighter side, at least in its namesake. "Congratulations, Christopher Hodge," the last song written for the new album, takes its title from Can't Swim's manager and longtime friend.

Explains lead singer Chris LoPorto: "[Christopher] and his wife are having a baby the same month our new record comes out and the title was a way to bless their new family together. We grew up playing music with each other and he is one of the main reasons Can’t Swim exists. We had all the demos done and ready to be recorded when he asked me to write one more song saying, 'You never know when creativity will strike.' A few days before entering the studio I sat down and wrote the whole song in a few hours and sent it to him. He’s always pushing me to work hard at this band and has believed in it since day one. It made all the sense in the world to name it in honor of him due to the fact he was the sole reason I wrote it."

This Too Won't Pass hits stores Nov. 16. You can find pre-order details and dates for their upcoming tour with Trophy Eyes, Seaway, Microwave and Hot Mulligan here. Find "Congratulations, Christopher Hodge" and all of its gang vocal-infused glory below.
