End of an era.

Coheed and Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez shocked fans by cutting his hair and posting the almost-unrecognizable photos of himself to Instagram on Nov. 7.

Sanchez shared photos of his new side-swept haircut and clean-shaven face with the caption, “The time for change has come.” For fans who refused to believe it was actually Sanchez in the photos, the singer shared another post, this time of his new hair slicked back, along with the caption, “I look like a younger version of my grandfather.”

For years, Sanchez’s bushy, lion’s mane hair was such an integral part of the rock band’s image, it was almost like a fifth member.

Sanchez’s unveiled his new look on the heels of the band’s ninth studio album, The Unheavenly Creatures, which was released on Oct. 5.

See the photos of Sanchez’s hair transformation below.

Went and got my shit tightened up. I look like a younger version of my grandfather.
