Neil Young has kept things pretty mum about his reported marriage to actress/director Daryl Hannah. Though the two dated for four years before reportedly getting married in a small, private ceremony in California in August, neither has made it official so far. But, as spotted by Pitchfork, Young finally spilled the beans in a message on his Archives site posted Wednesday (Oct. 31) alongside a live version of the iconic CSNY song "Ohio."

"OHIO was written back in 1970 after seeing the cover of a magazine with a young girl kneeling beside her fallen friend," he wrote about his visceral reaction to the shocking Kent State shooting. "When the National Guard murdered four students at OHIO's Kent State University for protesting the Vietnam War, it was a pivotal moment in our history. It was a pivotal moment for me. Today we see what we have become. With no real laws protecting us from guns, and with politicians supporting the NRA because the NRA supports them, we are not well represented. Today's students are brave, demanding change in violent times.

"We stand with them. They are us. We are them. This has been going on for far too long," he continued. "My wife Daryl and I put this video together for you to reflect on. Support the students. Support our children. They want protection. Not more guns." The note ends with a simple message: "VOTE."

Check out Young's exhortation to get out and vote in the midterm elections on Nov. 6 and the "Ohio" performance below.

Young starred in the Hannah-directed Netflix movie Paradox as "The Man in the Black Hat" earlier this year, for which he also wrote and performed the spooky soundtrack.
