Sharon Van Etten goes down the rabbit hole in the psychedelic projector video for her dark track "Comeback Kid," which was released on Tuesday (Oct. 30). The song is set to appear on her upcoming album, Remind Me Tomorrow, due out on Jan. 18 on Jagjaguwar.

Directed by Jonathan William Turner and shot in Van Etten’s hometown of New York, the video shows her standing in front of a projector showing collections of photo montages, trippy visuals and short video clips. The singer sways back and forth looking directly at the camera wearing loose black trousers and a sleeveless white blouse, engulfed in the light from the images for the duration of the video. Her vibrato voice pairs perfectly as the photos breeze through in the background, giving a dark, trippy feel to pair with abstract black and white flickers and faded family photos.

"As the lyrics for ‘Comeback Kid’ unfolded, I realized I was talking about many selves: the kid, the adult, the sibling, the friend, the neighbor," Van Etten tells Billboard in an emailed statement. "I imagined a projector streaming over me of memories, unclear if they are mine or someone else's, confronted by the disorientation of time and perspective.”
