Gerard Way has jumped into the Halloween season with his first release since 2016. "Baby You're a Haunted House" is a single "about all our inner ghosts and demons and what it feels like being in love and having to deal with your own internal horror show," Way said in a statement. "I tried not to really overthink it too much as I really wanted to start getting music out into the world again and sharing my art."

Way is best-known for his work as lead vocalist of emo pioneers My Chemical Romance, who disbanded in 2013. ON the new single his vocals trend in a more pop-leaning direction, as the swinging garage pop tune unfolds with the creepy singalong chorus, "Baby you're a haunted house/ Better find another superstition/ We're gonna stay in love somehow/ Cuz baby you're a haunted house now."

Outside of writing music, Way has also been busy writing comics. His award-winning series The Umbrella Academy was picked up by Netflix and will premiere on the service as a live-action adaptation in 2019.

Along with the song, Way also released a fun, retro-tinged lyric video featuring a performance by a band of skeletons in suits. Check it out below:
