Godsmack has postponed their upcoming European tour in light of the unexpected death of guitarist Tony Rombola’s son. The band issued an official statement on Oct.16 after Rombola’s son, Joe Fay, passed away at just 34 years old.

“With my deepest regrets, and on behalf of our guitarist Tony and his wife Sue, I am personally writing this message to all of our fans worldwide to inform you that Tony and his family have suffered a loss that no parent should ever have to endure,” vocalist/guitarist Sully Erna said.

“He was one of the kindest and most humble guys I had ever met,” Erna continued. “He literally lived the success of Godsmack through his Dad.”

Godsmack’s tour was set to kick off on Oct. 29 in Stockholm, Sweden. The band promises they will return in 2019, and will honor all original tickets for the new tour dates when they are announced.

The band has not released information on the circumstances surrounding Fay’s death.
