New Power Generation has announced an upcoming North American tour with two debut New York shows in January 2019. While the full dates have yet to be announced, the band has also been working on a new album set to release some time next year.

NPG was the official band for Prince from 1993 to 2013, making their debut on his 1991 album, Diamonds and Pearls. The band has spent this past year on a worldwide tour before deciding to head to the US in 2019, adding two shows on Jan. 4 at Manhattan's Sony Hall and Jan. 5 at Long Island's The Paramount.

NPG's longest-running member, Morris Hayes, worked with Prince for 20 years and promises to bring the pop legend's funky feel to the New York shows. “Look out New York, NPG is comin’ at you with some timeless Prince funk,” Hayes tells Billboard in an emailed statement.

NPG also hopes to release a DVD in 2019 of their first-ever live pay-per-view show that took place at Minneapolis' First Avenue, the iconic club from Prince's 1984 Purple Rain film.

Tickets for The Paramount show go on sale Wednesday (Oct. 17) and range from $22.50 - $75.00, while the Sony Hall tickets will be available Thursday, Oct. 18 at 10:00 a.m and will range from $39.50-$79.50.
