Jim James is on a mission to send a message with his craft. Performing his new single "Over and Over" on Wednesday's (Oct. 3) episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, James offered a stripped-back rendition of the track, boosted with a finger-picking acoustic guitar performance.

Fusing country and indie rock, the My Morning Jacket frontman rolled into the politically-charged lyrics, "We fight the same fights/We shed the same blood/Hold down the same hope/Over and over again."

The performance highlight came along with the chorus. Accompanied by the Resistance Revival Chorus, five women shared the spotlight with James, adding soulful, delicate backing vocals. Wearing white outfits, each member of the group was lit up with a different color on stage, creating a beautiful rainbow effect.

Uniform Clarity is the bare-boned acoustic sister album to James’ last record Uniform Distortion, released earlier this year. It's due out on Friday (Oct. 5).
