As promised, St. Vincent is prepping a stripped-down, piano-based version of her 2017 album Masseduction called MassEducation. The 12-song album is due out on Oct. 12 on Loma Vista Recordings.

According to a release, it was recorded live in the studio over two nights in August 2017 at Reservoir Studios while the singer was mixing the original album. "MassEducation lays bare the exquisite songcraft of its other half," reads the release, which also notes that the songs were performed by Annie Clark on vocals and Thomas Bartlett on piano, with the singer describing the refashioned versions as "two dear friends playing songs together with the kind of secret understanding one can only get through endless nights in New York City."

Clark and Bartlett (aka Doveman) premiered the spare arrangements during two intimate shows at the Belasco Theater in Los Angeles (Oct. 2) and London's Cadogan Hall (Sept. 4). Following the release of "Slow Slow Disco," Clark also released the spare, spooky album cut "Savior."

In a personal note to fans, Clark described the sessions as "two dear friends playing songs together with the kind of secret understanding one can only get through endless nights in New York City... Through him, I found 'My people, the freaks and others,' I owe my most transcendent nights and exquisite hangovers to his company."
