Bruce Springsteen took a break from rocking Broadway to get back to more familiar environs on Sunday (Sept. 30) at the inaugural Sea.Hear.Now festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey. As reported by, Springsteen made good use of his day off to drop in at the event organized by his longtime photographer, Danny Clinch, including jamming with punk rockers Social Distortion on their signature cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire."

While many fans had motored over to another stage to watch Jack Johnson's headlining set, the thousands who remained shouted out the Jersey mating call "BROOOOOOCE!!!" as their home state hero also laid down some guitar on Social D's "Bad Luck" and "Misery Loves Company" at the festival which also included sets from Kaleo, Brandi Carlile, Incubus, Ben Harper, Milky Chance, Blondie and Frank Turner.

It's not the first time the pair have shared a stage. Ness hopped on stage with Springsteen in Anaheim, California, in December 2012, and then again in Los Angeles in April 2009 for "Bad Luck" and "The Rising," and Springsteen performed on "Misery Loves Company" from Ness' 1998 solo debut, Cheating at Solitaire.
