We’ve been fans of the musical-comedy known as Pop Punk High for some time, eagerly awaiting the show’s next move. Experiencing it live is like stepping into an enchanted wonderland where an everlasting 2003 rocks hard, far superior to the awkwardness of some middling Warped Tour band’s 15-year album anniversary tour (15-year anniversaries are weird, anyway). There’s tons of audience participation, it hilariously mocks a lot of that scene’s sexist toxicity, and the songs are, shall we say, rippers.

Well, Pop Punk High is back for an even bigger New York City run this fall, and we’ve got the exclusive premiere of a brand new song they're adding to its repertoire.

“It’s Your Lucky Day” was written and produced by Ben Lapidus (who also stars in the show) and is sung by Kelly Krauter, who plays a genie that bears some mysterious similarities to Avril Lavigne. The plot centers on Derek (played by Lapidus), a sad-sack skater-rocker dude whose prospects in catching the attention of the girl of his dreams suddenly shoot up after discovering the genie. Before we give away too much, here’s the new song.

Pop Punk High begins its fresh run of dates Sept. 20 at Manhattan’s Le Poisson Rogue -- its biggest venue yet -- and runs through Nov. 1. For tickets check out the venue’s official site; for more info (and songs) from Pop Punk High, check out its homepage
