The MTV Video Music Awards are hitting New York City a week from today (Aug. 20), and they’re not done announcing talent for the Radio City Music Hall show. Panic! at the Disco are the latest confirmed performers, as Brendon Urie and company will be on hand for a rendition of their current single, “High Hopes.”
The brassy, pep squad-styled track came out on their 2018 album Pray For the Wicked and has been picking up steam at alternative radio (it jumped from No. 40 to 33 on the most recent Alternative Songs chart) though it’s not the song that has Panic! nominated for a Moonman this year. That’s “Say Amen (Saturday Night)” -- the new LP’s lead single -- which is up in the best rock category. Find the full list of this year’s VMA nominees here.
The performance at the award show will come two days after Panic! wraps the North American leg of its Pray For the Wicked arena tour in Urie’s hometown of Las Vegas. After the VMAs, they’ll continue the world tour at Reading Festival in England.
