Lord Huron performs on The Late Late Show with James Corden on Aug. 8, 2018.

On Wednesday night (Aug. 8) Lord Huron stopped by The Late Late Show with James Corden to give a cosmic performance of "Never Ever" from their latest album, Vide Noir. The cosmic folk group from Los Angeles delivered a high-energy run through the song, full of angst and intrigue, with a driving, distorted bass line, punky drums and some hints of ghost-like theremin which added to the stage's moody and evocative green lighting.

Donning an all-blue suit, singer Ben Schneider's voice reeked of emotional honesty as he related the sad story of a man waking up to find the woman he'd gone to bed with missing, the journey of searching for her in vain, and the internal struggle of wondering if she was even real in the first place.

The upbeat performance paired with the somber lyrics made the song's message of balancing one's hopes and reality relatable and ended with Schneider repeating the lyric, "I will wake her in the morning," before abruptly ending like the end of a dream.
