Bruce Springsteen takes his opening night bow in "Springsteen on Broadway" on Broadway at The Walter Kerr Theatre on Oct. 12, 2017 in New York City.

Last night (July 11) was the 155th performance of Bruce Springsteen's Broadway show, Springsteen on Broadway, and the rock legend graced fans with an unexpected encore.

Rarely ever straying from the setlist, and never before having played past his closing song "Born To Run," Springsteen treated lucky fans to a "This Hard Land" encore performance.

“This is from Patti ‘cause she wasn’t here tonight,” Bruce said, making a reference to his wife Patti Scialfa, who normally appears on the Broadway stage to perform “Tough Than The Rest.”

The encore wasn’t the only surprise for last night crowd. Springsteen also encouraged fans to take photos during the performance, which is normally prohibited.
