John Mayer, "New Light"

"Exactly how every music video should be for any song ever."

He's John Mayer, and he's ready to be a star. The 40-year-old singer/songwriter proved he couldn't care less what others think of him these days with the release of the hysterically low-budget video for his latest lovelorn tune, "New Light." The insta-meme clip, which dropped Thursday (May 24), sees Mayer striking corny poses in front of a horribly misused green screen. Twitter's general consensus was that the parodical video was so bad, it was actually fantastic (not to mention a GIF goldmine).

"I needed to make a video for New Light but nobody could agree on a budget. (MUSIC INDUSTRY amirite?)" Mayer explained on Twitter. "So I went to a place downtown and made this with a company that usually does birthday and Bar Mitzvah videos."

Despite the unconventional production, the final product's response was overwhelmingly positive, eliciting stamps of approval from Post Malone, Dillon Francis and more. Here's just a few of Twitter's best reactions to Mayer's "New Light" music video. Mazel tov!
