The Get Up Kids

After seven years without a major recording project, The Get Up Kids are back with their Kicker EP, which drops June 8 via Polyvinyl, and a single from the EP, "Kicker." The emo stalwarts will also embark on a U.S. headlining tour to promote the release.

Kicker -- named after a cheeky foosball reference also featured on the album art -- will mark the first release from The Get Up Kids since 2011’s There Are Rules. And in a statement about the aesthetic and message of the EP, vocalist/guitarist Jim Suptic struck a nostalgic tone about the band’s origins, steeped in the realities of adulthood.

"You always look back in rose colored glasses, and I always remember when this band was really struggling and we were selling our CD collections to pay our rent,” he explained. “That sucked at the time, but looking back that was an amazing time, that was so much fun. There was no pressure or anything.”

You can hear the energetic, Moog-accented “Maybe,” and check out the band’s upcoming tour dates below.
