City Of The Sun Marks Gilt Partnership With New Video and Promotion: Exclusive
New York-based post-rock group City of the Sun have entered into a new partnership with the lifestyle brand Gilt, and they’re commemorating the occasion with a new video and an exclusive promotional deal starting today (April 4).
The trio, composed of John Pita, Avi Snow and Zach Para, return back to their roots as street buskers in the video for the momentous closer “Everything” from their 2016 album To The Sun And All The Cities In Between. The video captures the raw energy of the band’s live show while performing for a candid captivated audience in New York’s Washington Square Park. It’s a bare-bones presentation that serves as a reminder of what makes the three accomplished musicians such a unique collective, which Para describes as an intentional goal to “transcend” by making an audience “feel out of their element a bit.”
The group seems every bit engrossed in the moment as bystanders become equally absorbed. Their untroubled performance can be credited to years of playing in front of strangers in a familiar process that Pita describes as “you play a few songs, you get a crowd….you become really good at seeing what works.”
“Because we started out on the streets, we are used to playing for crowds that don't know us,” Snow tells Billboard. “There’s no reassurance whether they should be liking us or not and it's a different vibe because it's completely spontaneous ... Now, to step onto a stage where people know us and know the music and are really already excited for us -- for us, I mean, we still really appreciate that feeling.”
The band’s recent collaboration with Gilt is just one piece in solidifying the band’s burgeoning success, but with an electrifying new video and promising partnership, the band is able to share their journey beyond street level.
