Liam Gallagher performs at The BRIT Awards 2018 held at The O2 Arena on Feb. 21, 2018 in London, England.

Liam Gallagher took the Brit Awards stage Wednesday (Feb. 21) to perform the 1994 Oasis hit “Live Forever,” paying tribute to the victims of the Manchester Arena attack last year.

Almost two dozen people were killed in May after a suicide bombing outside Manchester Arena following Ariana Grande’s concert that night. Grande was originally scheduled to perform the tribute herself but was unable to travel on doctor's orders. Gallagher -- a Manchester native -- took over the tribute.

Gary Barlow introduced Gallagher, declaring that the Manchester concert “epitomized the human spirit” and that “hate will never win and fear will never divide us,” setting the tone for this emotional performance.

The former Oasis singer released his solo album As You Were in October.
