AWOLNATION shared the striking music video for new single “Passion” on Friday (Nov. 10), using the band's fizzy, futuristic alt-rock as the soundtrack for an excursion into the world of extreme sports.
Directed by Ravi Dhar, “Passion” follows a day in the life of disabled skater Og De Souza in his hometown of Recife, Brazil. Souza shreds the half-pipe -- and wipes out -- with the best of them, spurned on by fellow skaters and breakdancers. Recife proves a visually stunning location as well, serving as a star of “Passion” just as much as its limber protagonist.
“Og has a such an amazing passion for life, positivity and, of course, skating,” frontman Aaron Bruno says. “It’s an inspiration to me and what he does is a great example of how to overcome obstacles in life through your passion. I know music has saved my life on more than one occasion. It’s an honor for us that he wanted to be a part of this video and share some of his life together.”
