John Cale Announces 'The Velvet Underground & Nico' 50th Anniversary Shows With Animal Collective, MGMT & More

The Velvet Underground’s John Cale announced two shows to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the band's iconic album The Velvet Underground & Nico, which will be performed in its entirety on Nov. 16 and 17 at Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Cale will be joined by members of Wordless Music Orchestra, as well as some notable special guests: Animal Collective, MGMT, Sky Ferreira, Kurt Vile, TV on the Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, Thee Oh Sees and more. 

In addition to those performances, Cale will also have his own birthday show, “John Cale’s 75th Birthday Celebration: A Live Audio-Spectrum from Dissonance to Destruction,” focusing on his solo work. He will be joined by the Wordless Music Orchestra for this performance as well.
