After releasing debut album Sprained Ankle late 2015 that made her an artist to look out for, Julien Baker is back with Turn Out the Lights, due Oct. 27 on Matador. On Wednesday (Oct. 11), she shared the second single and title track with its video.

Baker’s known for her deeply heartfelt lyrics with a hopeful outlook, paired with solemn, goosebump-inducing melodies. This song shows Baker at her best, detailing her journey to self-acceptance, shifting from quiet melancholic guitar to a loud, powerful jolt of energy as she sings “When I turn out the lights/There's no one left/Between myself and me.”

The video, directed by Sophia Peer (who also shot the video for first single “Appointments”), features Baker following a fuse in the countryside, capturing that shift in sound with the discovery of a burning piano.
